How to Run a Sangeet Guests Actually Enjoy

Cap the Performances, and Mean It

Eight to ten performances is the ceiling for a two-hour programme. Families routinely plan sixteen.

• Merge the small groups. Four cousins doing four solos becomes one strong group number.
• Put a hard cap on song length. Three minutes, edited in advance, not decided on the night.
• Have the running order printed and held by one person, and let that person run it.
• Rehearse the changeovers, not just the dances. That is where the time goes.

Structure the Evening in Three Acts
